It Just Can't Be

Well, our little girl is just that: a little girl -- a baby no more as she has officially blown out her first birthday candle. I'm still not sure how that happened. That first year passed me by just as quickly as everyone said it would. Mira thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of turning one: the people, the cake, and the presents! She enjoyed visits from both sets of grandparents, both Godparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is one lucky girl!
Mira also celebrated Easter with a bang. She made quick work of both of her Easter baskets, leaving Mom and Dad on the hunt for more toy storage. You know those storage containers people attach to the tops of their vehicles? Yeah. I think we need one for our house.
Aside from all of the celebrations we've had lately, not much is new. Mira is still clinging to the edges of furniture, but her balance is improving, so I hope that independent walking is in the near future. She's become increasingly independent and now wanders into her room for solitary play time on occasion. One of her new favorite activities is playing on her outdoor "climber" (which is not outdoors yet but in the basement). After a mishap on the slide, she was leary for a while, but she seems to have gotten back in the swing of things now and is climbing up and sliding down on her own. She loves to stand on the very top and yell directives at us. Okay, I'm not entirely sure that's what she's doing, but she's waving her pointed finger around and jabbering away, so that's my best guess.
Today was Mira's official one-year doctor's appointment. Apparently she's slipped to the 95th percentile for height and weight: 31" and 26.5 lbs! Tooth count: seven!
